Driving Home

Driving Home

A Poem by Steven Fleissner

Another Summer sunrise
A clean canvas
I am
Heading home

Straight road ahead
Far as I can see
Until the bend at the end
The world of women and men
Trying and trying again

Strangers make their way
Their faces face their day

The mother
The crying girl
The satisfied man (for now)

Mystics and Saints
Sinners
Wild Wanderers
Medicine Men

Queens and Kings
And things and things
Riding clouds of credit
The real world of appearances
Contests...

Questions
Conclusions
Questions
Convictions
Still questions...

This!
We are tight strings strumming
An orchestra
Our single verse
A uni-verse

Like water flows to water
To become the glittering silver sea
Public Soul
Why not be
Whole?

Summer sunrise
Clean canvas
Home

Great piece. I particularly enjoyed the imagery, conjuring clear and imaginative concepts. The use of rhyme is effective in this poem- I assume this is to highlight the important parts of the poem. Thanks for uploading.
