Breathing

Breathing

A Poem by Susannah Rae
"

there's something incredibly sexy and simply beautiful about the man I love blowing smoke into my lungs

"
Inhale -
and with a casual flick
of the bic
tendrils of sweetness
scorch and stretch lazily
upwards as the dutch sizzles
and snaps to life.
Impossibly long, thin fingers
roll brown burning leaf
once,
twice,
three times, then raise
it to a resonantly red mouth
and pulls in to himself
once quickly,
then again,
deeper.
Closes his eyes and draws
his face down until he
grazes my cheek with
his nose.
Soft petals search out
pale chapped lips to
connect and open
He releases from his lungs
his clouds -
they fill me up.
My chest rises,
responds,
as I drink in the plumes,
sip both earth
and fire from his lips
Hold his breath in and
tilt back, open my eyes
to hold his gaze for the first time.
The earth drops out from
under me
and,
- exhale.

In my young days of real bars. Drinking, smoking and dancing was a good time. Nice vision create by the poem. Smoking can be sexy if the right person is smoking and sharing the smoke with. No weakness in the excellent poetry.

I once tried to write a poem about smoke...I like yours better. The flow was perfect. I could see it all unfolding before my eyes.

Passion, like steam or smoke, respired. Trickling through the air, drawn inside, swirled like a mouthful of wine, then released. This poem works on a great many levels. Brilliant stuff, Susannah! :)

A beautifully sensual piece. Again you use the smoke analogy but this is breath taking at its most literal!
