The Art of Heartbreak

The Art of Heartbreak

A Poem by Steph Cruz

Young girl with a broken heart
Tears were her company
She tried telling herself
Everything will be alright in the end

The answers are in a blur
Her make-believe world was shattered
Dark clouds covered her pastel thoughts
As storm rages in her paper world

Lies surrounded everything she knew
Even the last remnant of light broke
She was too naive to think right
Was it her fault she cared too much?

Sadness creeps into her bones
Deeper she went into the sea of pain
All her strength turn to dust
Tell me, is it her fault she loved this much?
