Broken Barrier

Broken Barrier

A Poem by Stephanie
"

Broken doesn't always mean bad. And it's not always what you think!

"

In a world so large

There are always barriers...

Holding us back

Hiding secrets

Relishing our defeat

However, there is a certain wall most have climbed,

have overcome.

That impossible fortress finally brought down.

It's two barriers in one:

Language and music.

Foreign to our land,

Close to our hearts

(or at least mine).

No, I don't understand the words

though I have the translation.

I don't need to know the exact meaning!

I don't need to dissect a song

To find it's heartbeat.

Enchanting rythyms and powerful strings

Beating drums or hypnotizing violins

Russian, Japanese, Spanish or Swedish...

The rhyme,

The reason,

Rendered irrelevant.

All you need is an open mind.

Amazing, really.

How a foreign song I can't understand

Hits me harder than those that I can...

All it takes is removing that mental barrier,

Then what you get is magical.

I love this and it rings so true! I particularly love 'the rhyme, the reason, rendered irrelevant', the alliteration really works. Nice write.

You don't have to understand love in order to feel it... in fact the mysteries of love are part of what keeps us coming back for more... a very nice poem... nice seeing you writing again
