Serial What?

Serial What?

A Poem by Stephanie

Serial ___

(Fill in the blank.)

I bet you picked killer.

Jack the Ripper, Ted Bundy, Jaws,

et cetera.

Ripping flesh, severing limbs,

gouging eyes, violating life...

picking a poor soul apart

until they're nothing but a pool of blood

on a creepy basement floor.

I'm a different kind of serial-

By that, I don't mean cereal.

Want to fill in the blank?

I filled it in for the first time the other day,

when my best friend informed me what I was:

A serial flirt.

No, seriously.

"You flirt with every guy you talk to."

Really, Jaz? Hmm...

I must have a few tricks up my sleeve!

Who's my next victim?

Okay, this started out fabulous and then was such a letdown. I was digging the blood and guts. I am a horror writer, you know.

Kidding! This is great fun, very creative. I'm a serial procrastinator, which may explain why it took a year and a half to read this one.

Thank you for entering my competition Steph. I apologise for not reading the entries earlier, there have been other things on my mind. I also apologise that I did not find this very funny. Sorry!

You were so right! Exactly what I thought, and was glad when you turned it to something lighter! This was a very fun read, expressing a bit of your insights and personality. Loved it!

Yup, very witty and LOTS of attitude. I like it. It's very creative and I also like the way the tone of this poem changes somewhere in the middle. You sort of get the reader into a mood by expressing your ideas of a serial killer, and then, suddenly, the tone changes and you become witty and funny. I would have loved to see a video clip of the facial expression of every single reader that has read this poem so far. At first, a frown, and then that serious thoughtful look... and then, slowly but surely their faces light up until they finally crack that smile... well, if that wasn't the case with all the other readers, it surely was the case with me...

Stephanie, how could you EVER think your Brilliant and Wonderful creations could ever suck? It simply is not true. This was a most enjoyable and out right fun read! You had me all the way through! LOL I did at first think of the breakfast food variety, nope stopped me dead in my tracks there. I didn't see your prognosis coming! Ok, now I know to beware! I guess I will just have to start bribing you with S & V chips! LOL
This was an Excellent piece! I simply loooooooooooved (to be sung, as you once said lol) it!

That is too funny... boy you are trying to mess with our minds, well good job cause yes I feel for it... a very witty little piece... I think flirting for some just comes natural... it is usually harmless except for those who take it to seriously. To mean flirting means you enjoy life.

I like this.
It's pretty good and not as grim as some of the other writing on here.
It has character and a bit of honest humor.
Great write!
