Gold Bullets

Gold Bullets

A Poem by stephsand14

The knocking of gold bullets receded

Her body unknotted from a tight hold

Silence and smoke invaded her senses

They retreated and marched to the trenches

She steadied herself and opened the door

Empty shells glistened on the dirty floor

A loose tire rolled passed her on the road

Children playing before they would explode

A mother - victim of something senseless

Attacks that only reach the defenseless

Memories she can’t manage to control

Reaching out for a single living soul

One can overcome anything
But when someone takes your heart and breaks it
The people you need to have
The support

You die a little
Until a prince comes along
