If My Soul Was Sound

If My Soul Was Sound

A Poem by stephsand14

I looked all around and found no delight,

I searched for Joy, but I did not find it.

Bliss was needed, but she was out of sight.

I went out for a walk and found a pit.

Maggots crawled and I felt I found my ground.

There was no Sun, nothing that could spot me.

I stood still to hear if my soul was sound.

Leaves fell, trees shivered, and close was the sea.

I was ready to kill, there was no shame.

My life had no use, it needed to die.

Silence allowed me, everyone was lame.

You who said, “Life is precious,” said a lie.

I walked back home and saw the rising Sun.

I pondered, wondered and only said, “Run.”
