If I Could Launch A Thousand Ships

If I Could Launch A Thousand Ships

A Poem by Stephen Cousins
"

A love poem

"

If I could launch a thousand ships

And sail them to your heart

Ten thousand more could sail

And fail to tear us both apart

If I should stand beneath you

In Verona’s tragic play

I’d climb the vines to meet you

And I’d never leave again

If you were queen of Egypt

And I commanded Rome

I’d give my wealth and Empire

To make your heart my home

And lonely on the moors

I hear the ghost of Cathy cry

But I will keep you safe and warm

And bring you back to life

Very well written. Warm and sincere, the rhythm and flow work very well together. Welcome to the cafe.
