Learning and SchoolA Poem by Stephthis isnt a poen, but i just wanted to share this, and under the other categories it didnt seem to fit, so any ideas on what I should publish this under?Learning & School
Two different things.
Completely different, but people consider then to go hand in hand. School is a building where kids are forced to
go. 5 Days a week, 8 hours a day. You
could be homeschooled but that rarely happens.
Learning is gaining knowledge from your mistakes. Life is a learning experience.
Kids should enjoy learning. School is a
place where kids get teased, judged and don’t even feel comfortable asking
questions. Almost no one enjoys going to school. Since teachers say going to
school is learning, kids associate learning as not fun and something they
wouldn’t to do in there spare time. But truly, learning is going to new places,
learning a different way of life other than their own. Learning is how to be
independent, getting through rough times all by you. I have been going to
school for many years. I can say that school is something that needs to be
changed and not taken super seriously as society sees it as. Learning should be
the main focus, however way kids want to do it.
Don’t get me wrong; school is a place where you will learn beneficial basic
knowledge such as some math and language arts. But tell me, when will we use
90 % of the stuff we get shoved down our throats in school? School is a
place where stress begins. Kids as little as 9 years old are worried about due
dates and their grades. Now, learning is a wonderful thing. But forcing us to
go to school is not learning. In school we learn that kids are not nice and
teachers don’t like their jobs. School we don’t learn much. Outside of school,
we learn tons just by being ourselves and making choices in our lives. Maybe we
will make the wrong choices but that’s okay and we will all learn from our
mistakes. Never associate learning with
school, because no matter who tells me we learn in school, I know that they are
wrong. School is not learning.
Albert Einstein: It is, in
fact, nothing short of a miracle that the modern methods of instruction have
not yet entirely strangled the holy curiosity of inquiry; for this delicate
little plant, aside from stimulation, stands mainly in need of freedom; without
this it goes to wrack and ruin without fail. It is a very grave mistake to
think that the enjoyment of seeing and searching can be promoted by means of
coercion and a sense of duty. John Holt: Children do not
need to be made to learn about the world, or shown how. They want to, and they
know how." © 2013 StephAuthor's Note
