Identity UndisclosedA Story by Stephanie MThis is only a rough draft. I know this is different from what I usually write.Renee found that writing poetry was quite therapeutic. She soon began to write everyday. One day, she posted a poem, that she was especially proud of, on a new website that she found. Several minutes later, she noticed that she got a message. "Oh, cool, I already got a review," she thought to herself. She was shocked by what she saw. Someone named Shante Douglas, had sent her a nasty message worded, "F**k you, psychopath," and a string of other obscenities. Renee clicked on the woman's profile, wondering how she could have offended her so much, and noticed that the profile had recently been closed. There was a message worded, "Good night! This profile is closed indefinitely!" Renee still made sure to block this profile, figuring this belonged to an unstable person. Renee couldn't get the thought out of her head. "How could someone be so offended by an innocent poem?! I just can't wrap my mind around it." She was up half the night, before she decided to look up the woman's name. The only match belonged to a 67 year old woman from Utah, who was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. A couple months later, Renee discovered that the profile had been re-opened, and unblocked it. Someone had created a profile under an unpronounceable French name. She became intrigued, and hacked deeper into this person's profile. Apparently, this person was a French operative, who was posing as an FBI agent; who was trying to prevent a kidnapping, and murder. The next day, Renee could have sworn she was being tailed, on her way to her community outreach group. As she walked out the door to leave, a man dressed in all black, grabbed her from behind. She was forced into a car, and tranquilized. Renee awoke in a sewer, with steam rising from the manhole. She was greeted by a group of government agents. "Welcome to the Black Room." Renee found herself chained up in a room covered from wall to wall with television screens. Se was forced to watch government propaganda, until she conformed. This was their way of "programming," or brainwashing people into obeying. Several hours later, the room opened up. She could feel arms yanking at her through barred walls. "This is what happens to people who do not comply with government policies!" anguished voices wailed. © 2014 Stephanie M |
