Dharma BumsA Poem by Stephanie MThis is a poem I wrote based on the writings of Jack Keroac. We are the Dharma Bums We conform to no one We live our lives on the road We are vagabonds on the go We live behind the tracks We sleep in the woods or in a boxcar when it rains In the dark we dwell with not much to say We may be broke yet we do what we please We stare into the dark Tell tales of old and dine on wine, and cheese Scraps of poetry in tow we climb to the peak A clear mountain spring A zen moment awaits We drop our bags to rest for a drink Upon the misty morning we hop the train A random destination for our minds to entertain Nowhere to call home we go from place to place Please don't show us pity It's just better this way When no one knows we're alive it helps to ease the pain A mind free of troubles is where paradise awaits © 2014 Stephanie M |
