Fortune Cookies

Fortune Cookies

A Story by Stephanie M
"

This is a story about cursed fortune cookies.

"

The F.D.A has issued a recall on fortune cookies. Although the reason is unclear,

do not, and I repeat DO NOT, open a fortune cookie, if you happen to go out to eat

at a Chinese restaurant. Rumor is, that an abandoned fortune cookie factory, that

was presumed haunted, has been providing Chinese restaurants all over the United

States, with fortune cookies. Who ever opens these cursed cookies, and reads the

message, will have the same thing happen to them, that's printed on the message.

The first victim was, Lisa, of Akron, Ohio. The message in her fortune cookie

was, "You will be deceived by a friend, who offers to take you on a fishing trip."

The following week, her body was found along the shore of Lake Erie. It had

been determined that she had been murdered. Someone had thrown her into the

lake with a pair of "cement shoes." Lisa was a small time hood, who conned

elderly people out of thousands of dollars.

The second victim was, Ron, of Columbus, Ohio. The message in his

fortune cookie was, "In your drive to succeed, you will go through periods of

insanity, and make many enemies." Ron focused on his current writing project

way too hard, during one of his brief periods of sobriety, and pushed all his

friends away. He ended up in the psych ward, with a nervous breakdown. A

couple weeks later, he was murdered. Ron was a terrible alcoholic, who drank

to numb his emotions.

The third victim was, Pete, of Houston, Texas. The message in his

fortune cookie was, "Material versus spiritual goals, will tear into the

fabric of your life." Pete spent more and more time in search of finding

meaning, and lost his job. He ended up homeless, and died frozen to a park

bench, during a freak winter storm. Pete was a voyeur, and had been peeking

into his neighbor's windows, while she was undressing.'

The fourth victim was, Ellen, of Nashville, TN. The message in her fortune

cookie was, "You will be trampled by an ox." While helping out on a farm, Ellen

got run over by an ox that was pulling a cart. She had been sleeping with a

married man.

The fifth victim was, Woody, of Shreveport, Louisiana. The message inside

the fortune cookie was, "You will fall into a patch of thorns, and get stuck in an

unlikely place."

One night when Woody, was out drinking with his buddies, a friend dared

him to streak. He ran though the woods naked, and fell into a huge patch of

thorns, groin first! Woody was a small time drug dealer.

The sixth victim was, Lucas, of Cincinnatti, Ohio. The message inside his

fortune cookie was, "You will become hopeless, and attempt suicide. Luke's

new bride left him, and took their baby with her. Luke got drunk one night,

and blew his brains out, with a sawed off shotgun. Luke beat on his elderly

mother. He was supposed to be her caretaker.

The seventh victim was, Harry, of Phoenix, Arizona. The message inside

his fortune cookie was, "You will be involved in an ice skating accident." When

he went to visit one of his friends up north, he went ice skating, and fell through

a patch of thin ice, into the freezing water. He became trapped, and within a

couple hours succumbed to hypothermia. Harry had a warrant out on him, and

he was wanted in two states, because he had Aids, and he had been passing it

on to his partners without their knowledge.

The eighth victim was, Lenny, of Las Vegas, Nevada. The message in his

fortune cookie was, "You will be accused for a murder you did not commit."

Lenny ended up having to spend the rest of his life in jail, because he

resembled the real murderer. Lenny was a deadbeat dad.

The ninth victim was, Bill, of Lakewood, Ohio. The message in his fortune

cookie was, "You will be greeted with the birth of a child." The next month,

Bill discovered that his wife was pregnant. She ended up giving birth to a

stillborn. Bill was a wife beater.

The tenth victim was, Dave, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The message in his

fortune cookie was, "You will discover that you have a terminal illness." Dave

discovers that he has stage four colon cancer. Dave was a "player." He took

advantage of women.

The eleventh victim was, Tina, of San Antonio, Texas. The message in

her fortune cookie was, "You will be involved in an explosion." Tina was killed

during a grilling accident, when her propane tank blew up. Tina had slowly been

poisoning her husband, for the past five years.

The last victim was, Terry, of San Diego, California. The message in his

fortune cookie was, "Someone will con you out of all your money." Terry lost

all his money through a scam, and ended up homeless. Terry had been

continually stealing money from his elderly parents. He had been put in charge

of their finances, when they were put in a nursing home.

After a thorough investigation, the FBI had concluded, with the aid of

paranormal investigators, that the factory was run by Onis (Japanese spirits),

who were punishing the wicked for their misdeeds.

Oni, a devil-like demon with long nails. wild hair. a fierce look, two

horns on his forehead, who wears tiger skin, was in charge of making the

cookies. Gama, a toadlike spirit, cursed the cookies. Shishi, a half dog, half

lion spirit, wrote the messages to go inside the cookies. Bakechochin, a ghostly

lantern spirit, with a long tongue protruding from his mouth, and a pair of eyes,

was in charge of running the assembly line, and manufacturing the cookies.

Yuki-onna, the spirit of a tall, beautiful female with transparent skin, was in

charge of carrying out the punishments.
