As someone who just got out of a two-month stint in the hospital with a flesh-eating disease in her tits, I can honestly respond to this poem. I had most people visit me, there to stroke their own moral egos. It was painfully obvious. They just took a picture with me, dropped off a brownie platter, told me how much they pitied me, showed Snapchat how nice they were for visiting me, and then left thirty minutes later. Unless we have some emotional stake in the person... a lover, a relative, a deep and close friend... it's hard to say you do things JUST out of the kindness of your heart. Altruism is a dead language, like latin and myspace.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Wow! I can' t imagine going through that. Thanks for the review.
this really reminds me of how we always think of how people will judge us instead of being ourselves. in a way, everything we do is to be good in the eyes of society, even though we end up as hypocrites by doing that. nice one, really
Most of us have no control whatsoever as to why we do the things that we do, for what we do is mostly dependent on the moods that we happen to be in during the moment that we act. The apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree of self-preservation, and evolved species survival traits. It’s not a matter of what we do, but rather of how our moods are shifting from moment to moment. Some moods are contagious whereby they cause psychological storm fronts within human populations of love, fear, anger, hate, and so forth. In the last two world wars, storm fronts of fear and hate were generated like a zombie apocalypse. We’re now seeing psychological storm fronts of hate in the Middle East, Africa, and Russia. People should be made aware of the way they feel, and the collateral damage that it may cause when they’re controlled like demonic puppets by such feelings.

I am a published poet and aspiring writer. No, I am not depressed! I write dark poetry. I am inspired by
the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Ray Bradbury. I am
also influenced by the works of Coleridge.. more..
