seen the sadness

in a puppy's eyes

from cruel masters

denying them

affection

you will see me

If you've ever

been pricked

by the bitter

thorns of spite

you will feel me

If you've ever

had to wipe off

the dust of

many wasted years

you will know me

If you find sadness

to be a

universal

language

you are me
