![]() What Happened World?A Story by Rondida![]() What happened to today's society?![]() They always talk about making the world a better place. Question: When will that happen?
For years I wasn't allowed to roam the streets on my own for mere reasons. One, I could get kidnapped. Two, someone could rape me. Three, I could get killed. Four, it's just not safe. Now as a thirteen-year-old, I still have to be in the house before it gets dark and must walk with a friend in order to be safe and I need to have my phone on and with me at all times keeping tabs with my mother. What happened to the days where four-year-old girls walking down the street on their own and buying themselves a lollipop? Where did those days go? The news is filled with tragedy and once in a blue moon you find an uplifting story, but in a second it's gone revealing another tragedy that happened not too far from home. It's funny how we are trying to save the world and yet we can't even protect our children from walking around the neighborhood to and from school. Children can't even protect themselves at home. Today and before homes are abusive, sexual, and just horrifying that it's just sad to think that people actually harm their own family members. Fathers raping daughters, mothers abusing children, and siblings hurting each other. Where did the love go? It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized the world is no place for love. My own father turned against me and used my body for his own problems. My friends are now gay or in pain; my mother turning into a child and forgetting that I'm the daughter, not her; and needing therapy because my father mentally abused me. Isn't that just a fairy tale to be told? Even before a few years ago my life was just a wreck. I used to get hit and all you would hear in my home is arguing and little kids crying. It's not completely hell, but it's not the Brady Brunch either. President Obama has been focusing on keeping the world clean, keeping people's jobs, having the economy fixed, and yet he's forgetting one thing: Keeping the streets safe. Kids under the age of fifteen are getting hold of cigarettes and guns somehow. Kids aren't born as thugs, drug addicts, theives, killers, abusers, or rapists. They were raised around that enviornment and were made to believe it's okay. If we focus on keeping the kids away from those things, the next generation would have less worries. But it's not that simple, everybody knows that. Nothing is the same ten years ago, and things will be completely different for another ten years. The world, the children, the society needs saving. All because us humans can't keep everything the way they are and makes things worse. If only humans had more heart, more brains, and less mindless a******s. © 2011 Rondida |
