Weathered HeartA Poem by Lewis TedescoWEATHERED HEART The rain keeps on coming down The wind doesn’t stop blowing The lightning strikes But I know I will be alright I remember the way we used to love The things that we used to say to each other The things that we thought were important The days that we planned The love that we had I sit here now, the clock striking midnight, no one there to say come to bed No one there to hold me at night, no one there to tell me it will be alright when I wake up and shake in the middle of the night. I don’t know where it went wrong, what was said to make it get to this point, but I do know that this rain will continue to fall regardless, the wind will keep blowing, the power of the thunder will be here all the days and there is nothing that can make the skies clear anymore. You told me that you loved me; we made a promise to each other that we would always be. But this isn’t what the promise should have been; this isn’t what we were supposed to be in the end. We were supposed to spend forever with each other and we were supposed to love every day like it was out last, together, with no one else, but somewhere along the way you have decided that we should have gone our separate ways, that we needed to find someone new to share this with, and that is ok. I love you and you love me, the rain keeps falling and the wind keeps blowing. The thunder will always sound that the lightning will light up the sky. And I will sit here and wait for you to come home. [This is an original work by Lewis Tedesco. All materials are copyright protected.
