A long lost love
Once was seen
By a shy young girl
In a bittersweet dream
Her heart was broken
Her soul was sad
For what might've been
What she could've had
Her soft brown eyes
Filled with tears
At the dream of love
And the loss of years
Sleeping quite soundly
She saw in joy
Bright on his face
Was the smile of a boy
She couldn't believe
Such an impish grin
And opened her eyes
Just as he came in
"Is this a dream?"
She wondered aloud
Then he smiled once more
Like a rooster, proud
"No dream my love
I've found you again,"
He answered, "Ive searched
To now from then."
Softly she washed away
The tears and the sleep
Took him in her arms
And began again to weep
"What price, my love
You must have paid,
To have gone away
And so long stayed."
She sighed quietly
As again he replied
"In the absence of love,
I nearly died.
So search I did
Your heart to find
To love you true
To make you mine."
"Love you I do
Heart and soul
Sweet man you've made
This woman whole."
So happily they stared
At a pale, full moon
And found their love
Not a moment too soon.
And not a second late
They found, relieved
That dreams come true
If they're only believed
