Chapter 1

Emmy Barker had a crush on Noah Edwards since the beginning of 7^th grade, but was to shy to admit her feelings in person.  So she did the next best thing:  she wrote a note to Noah telling him of her feelings:

Dearest Noah,

Do you like me?

If you do, check:

Yes

No

Emmy

After folding it up neatly, Emmy passed the note to whom she thought was Noah Edwards, but was intercepted by Emmy’s rival, Lizbeth Torres, who read the note, and, erased Noah’s name and added Tyler Christian’s name and put it on his desk.

Dearest Tyler,

Do you like me?

If you do, check:

Yes

No

Emmy

Tyler saw the note on his desk and read it.  After reading the note, he gave a quick smile in Emmy’s direction.  Emmy turned her gaze toward the blackboard so as not to get Tyler’s attention.   She didn’t want to give Tyler any intention she wanted him in anyway, despite what Lizbeth did with Emmy’s note.
