Chapter 1A Chapter by A Soap Mess Stories“C’mon, Kendall! It’s just a game!” Camila said. “But I don’t really believe in fortune tellers.” Kendall replied. “It’s just for fun.” “But I don’t really have the money.” But Kendall didn’t win the argument as Camila grabbed her friend’s arm and pulled her into the fortune tellers tent and gave her the money to read their fortunes. The fortune teller, dressed in a traditional blue Indian sari and veil, motioned for the girls to have a seat. “Welcome to my tent.” the fortune teller said to the girls as they took their seats. “Call me Maria.” As Maria read Camila’s fortune, it was a pleasant reading with marriage and a family and a career. But when Maria got to Kendall’s reading, it was not as happy as her friend’s reading. As Kendall listened to the dark future, Kendall wished she had not come in. After the reading, the girls thanked Maria and exited the tent. “See, I told you that wouldn’t be so bad!” Camila told her. “Yeah. You got a happy reading!” Kendall reminded her friend. “Pfffft! You actually believe that garbage?! It was just for fun!” “I hope so.” Kendall said worried. Camila dropped Kendall off in her driveway before she drove back to her own home. “See you in the morning. I’ll pick you up for school.” “Yeah.” Kendall said as she got out of Camila’s car and waved goodbye. As Kendall watched her friend drive off, she walked to her front door. That’s when she heard a blood-curdling scream come from the living room, as Kendall rushed inside to see what was going on…. Once inside, Kendall saw her frantic mother, as she dialed 9-1-1, as her father gasped for air. © 2018 A Soap Mess Stories |
