Chapter 2

Kristie was woken up by her cell ringing when Tyler called her early the next morning. 

“Kristie, have you and Karrie heard the tragic news?” Tyler asked frantically.

“Tyler, what’s wrong?” Kristie responded to Tyler’s hysteria.

“There’s been a murder at the haunted house where he worked for Halloween!” Tyler said sadly.

“A murder?  You’re kidding?” Kristie said in disbelief.

“And you won’t believe who it was!” Tyler exclaimed shockingly.

“Who was it?”

“Remember that young boy who said nothing ever scared him?”

“Yeah, what of it?”

“He’s the one who was killed at the haunted mansion!”

“Really?” Kristie questioned.  “Hey, Tyler, meet me and Karrie at the haunted house in 30.”

“Okay.  But why?”

“I want to check this out.” Kristie explained before hanging up.

Kristie went to rouse her twin from a soundless sleep.

“Karrie, wake up!” Kristie said urgently.

“But why, I was having a great dream.” Karrie said, smiling happily.

“Get up!  There’s been a murder at the haunted house!” Kristie said as she nudged her sister.

“Murder!  What?” Karrie said as she jumped up from her warm bed.  “Who was killed?”

“That boy who said nothing ever scared him.” Kristie told her.

“Well, it serves him right.  For thinking that way.”

“Karrie, how mean.”

“Sorry, but why are we going to that haunted house?  Halloween is over?”

“No time for questions!  Let’s get going!” Kristie demanded of her sister as the two of them raced to the haunted house to check out the murder scene.
