Most Precious Gift

Most Precious Gift

A Poem by A Soap Mess Stories

I used to think working in healthcare

Was just about the money, but

The hardest thing about working in a nursing facility

Is when a resident passes away

The honor is in knowing you all

To be able to assist with you with your needs

The real joy is knowing I helped someone

Who needed it

Listening to their concerns and worries

Maybe even joy

Without passing judgment

Each and everyone of you have touched a small place in my heart

As sad as it is knowing you are no longer here

It’s the hope knowing you’re in a better place

No pain, suffering

Rest in peace dear residents

For I shall never forget any of you

The most precious gift is knowing I could help

When one of you needed it

Thank you for the gift of being able to knowing each and everyone of you

This is beautiful. To honour their lives with such words is a blessing, the knowing them a gift to life, beautiful :)

Gee
And that is why so many put up with the poor conditions, pay and long hours to work in the NHS in the UK. It is a calling to them not a job.
I tip my hat to you and all that nurse, care.
A lovely read.
