Chapter 2

Kara and her friends were about to enter the pavillion where their 25^th reunion from Ronald Reagan High School where all their classmates would wait their entrance. This would be their first reunion Kara and her friends had attended. They were all too afraid to show their faces before because of the scandal that happened back in high school. Rumor had it that Kara was dating the biology teacher, Mr. Ames. When the rumor came out, Mr. Ames was abruptly fired and Kara was ostracized by everyone except her three friends, Kelly, Casey and Cammie. They all knew it wasn't true. Mr. Ames was just tutoring Kara in biology because she had been failing and wanted to pull up her grade. Word got out that Kara was sleeping with Mr. Ames to get a better grade. Kara was absent from school for two weeks after the rumor came out. With encouragement from Kelly, Casey, and Cammie, Kara found the courage to face the barrage of rumors from classmates and returned to school and graduated with honors.

As Kara, Kelly, Casey and Cammie got out of the limo that drove them to the pavillion, they were ready to face whatever was coming. They all decided they would finally face their classmates together. So holding hands together, the four women walked confidently inside where all went silent when they entered the pavillion.

Jaws dropped, with whispers throughout, wondering if the four women who just entered the reunion were lesbian lovers, dressed in their lavender pink, green and yellow gowns. That is until they notice the small bump on Kelly's stomach. That was when Rich Cummings loudly yelled out, “Hey, look! At least we know Kelly's not a lesbian! Just look at the bump on her stomach!”

Kelly proudly marched to the center of the stage and announced, “Yes everyone, I am unofficially pregnant. I took a home-pregnancy test tonight and will see a doctor as soon as possible to confirm it. No I am not married. In fact, I have been divorced for two years and the father is a man who I have only been seeing for two months.” Then Kelly left the stage.

During Kelly's announcement, a man at the back of the auditorium heard Kelly's announcement. It was Max. He had come back because he decided he couldn't live without her and he didn't want the big city life without Kelly. After he heard Kelly's annoucnement, he followed Kelly through the crowd and touched her shoulder at the moment she reached her friends.

Kelly was shocked when she turned around and came face to face with Max. “Max!”

“Kelly, darling! I came back.” Max told her. “I can't live without you. Screw the big city life! It's not worth it if you're not with me!”

“Oh, Max! I missed you so!” Kelly cried, as she ran into his arms.

“Wow! That was some announcement I heard!” Max added, surprised. “Is it true?”

“Unofficially, yes!” Kelly repeated. “I took a home-pregnancy just tonight because I was a week late. I will see a doctor tomorrow to confirm it.”

“Oh, Kelly, that must have been the news that drove me back here. While I was waiting to board my flight, I had this nagging feeling gnawing at me. It wouldn't go away. Not until I got here, to see you did it finally leave.”

Kelly and Max kissed, then Max led Kelly out to the dance floor while Kara, Casey and Cammie and the rest of their classmates watched them.
