A Chapter by A Soap Mess Stories

I can’t believe it has been 25 years since high school graduation,” Kara says to Kelly, who she is talking on the phone.

Kara and Kelly have been friends since high school and have kept in touch since. They have been there through marriages, divorces, children, and jobs. Both Kara and Kelly were matron-of-honors at each others weddings, they were at the hospital for their children being born, and they cried on each others shoulders when both lost their husbands to divorce.

Yeah, I can’t believe it’s been that long either. My how time have flown by,” Kelly replied back to Kara.

So, Kelly, are we girls still going out on the town after we attend the reunion?”

You betcha, Kara! I wouldn’t miss this for the world!”

Kelly, remember, I’m picking everyone up at 5 p. m. Saturday night. So have Casey and Cammie ready at your house.”

Gotcha, Kara. I will let them know to be her and ready by 5 p.m. on Saturday.”

See ya Saturday, Kel.”

See ya, Kara.”

Kara was planning a surprise for her high school buddies. She was having them all picked up at Kelly’s on Saturday by limo. She wanted her and her friends to arrive in style to Centennial High’s Class of 1985 25th Reunion. She wanted to show her classmates that she had made it. Kara was voted most likely not to succeed back in high school and although the nomination hurt her deeply, she was determined to show them all. The night of the reunion, she was going to show everyone just how much she “failed.”

There is something funny about this. It isn't satire and it isn't sad. It's just upbeat and the women are really fine with setting up an arrangements of time and details. That is a very good qualities of them ladies. I hope you don't mind me asking but is this a chic lit genre? It sounds a lot like a novel written by a woman still a young or youngish middle-aged woman. I guess it is since the characters are older it can't be the YA lit genre, even though it has some post high school memories, or flashbacks. That is not significant comment, but it's difficult to write in one style without switching lazily from/between one or another
