Chapter 1A Chapter by A Soap Mess StoriesTootsie was fast asleep on the front porch of her master's home when she heard a cry down the road. Tootsie sat up and pointed her ears in the direction of the cry. Suddenly, she bolted upright and ran toward the cry. Ten-year-old Jeremy was just coming back out to play with Tootsie when he saw her run off. “Tootsie, where are you going?” Jeremy yelled, trying to catch up with her. He finally managed to catch up with Tootsie when he find her at the lake trying to rescue a girl around the age of ten. “Here, take my hand.” Jeremy said, reaching his hand out to the girl. The girl took hold of Jeremy's hand and he pulled her out of the water. Tootsie barked as the sheriff's deputy happened to be driving up. The deputy reached back behind his seat and pulled out a blanket. He got out of the car and walked up to Jeremy and the girl and put the blanket around the girl. “What happened?” Deputy Harris asked Jeremy. “I was just following my dog, Tootsie, who ran down here. That's when I saw Tootsie here trying to help the girl.” Jeremy answered Deputy Harris' question. “Are you okay, Miss?” Deputy Harris asked the girl. The little girl couldn't speak. She just stood there, crying. Deputy Harris led the girl to his car and helped her in. Then he turned to Jeremy. “Hop in. I'll drive you and your dog home on my way to take the girl to the hospital.” Deputy Harris said to Jeremy. After Deputy Harris dropped Jeremy and Tootise off, he radio dispatch to alert them that he was bringing a young girl about ten to the hospital. As soon as Deputy Harris arrived with the girl, the nurse on duty instantly recognized the little girl. “Chelsea?” Nurse Redding asked when Deputy Harris brought her into ER. “You know this girl?” Deputy Harris asked. “She's my granddaughter, Chelsea Manning.” Nurse Redding replied to Deputy Harris. “A boy and his dog found her at the lake when I happened to pull up.” Deputy Harris told her. “Do you know where this boy lives?” Nurse Redding asked. “We'd like to talk to him.” “I dropped him off at his home before I brought in the girl.” “Her father is Senator James Manning. He will want to speak to the boy who found his daughter.” Nurse Redding told Deputy Harris. “I'll go to the boy's home and ask to bring him. Where do you want me to bring him?” “Here is the Senator's address.” Nurse said as she wrote it down on a piece of paper for Deputy Harris. “Have him there at ten a.m. Tomorrow.” “Okay, I will do that.” Deputy left to go back to the boy's home to speak with Jeremy. Nurse Redding led her granddaughter to a waiting bed to be examined, and called her son to tell him his daughter had been found. © 2014 A Soap Mess StoriesFeatured Review
