Chapter 5A Chapter by A Soap Mess Stories
Kendra couldn't believe she was sitting in police station right now waiting for Thomas to come bail her out. Why had she put Kendra's name on the check? Because she was preoccupied watching Bryan and his new love. Had he already forgotten her? How could he move on and just forget her? She wished she could speak with him, but how would she explain that she was here, just not in her body"someone else's?
Just then, Thomas showed up at the police station to bail Kendra out, or rather, Laurie.
“Laurie, my dear, what happened?” Thomas inquired.
“I don't know. Somehow I put the wrong signature on the check. I asked if I could just write another one, but the store manager said that couldn't be done, so he took me to the office until the police showed up. The police questioned me, and thought I was resisting, so they arrested me and brought me to the station.”
“Officer, what do I have to do to bring my wife home?” Thomas asked.
“Just pay her fine of $100 and she's free to go home.” the officer explained.
Thomas wrote the officer a check for the fine and the officer unlocked Kendra's (Laurie) handcuffs. On the drive home, everyone was silent, including the children, who were also at the police station in another part of the building.
“I'm sorry, Thomas.” Kendra finally spoke up, breaking the silence.
“It's okay, love. I'm sure you didn't mean it. Just try to be more careful, hon.” Thomas assured her.
“Hey, mom, that was cool! Can we do that again?” Tommy asked from the back seat.
“Tommy, it's cool to have to go to the police station.” Thomas told him.
“My children think I'm a hero because I got arrested? What kind of mother am I?” Kendra asked.
“A good one, dear.” Thomas told her.
Thomas pulled up into the driveway of their home. The children were the first ones out of the car, Tommy before Thomas even shut off the car. Kendra went to the back door to retrieve Ciara from her car seat, while Thomas helped Cassie inside the house. Then he came back out to the car to get the groceries Kendra had bought.
Kendra couldn't think. She put Ciara in her playpen and retreated to her bedroom for a few minutes. All she could think of right now was Bryan.
When Thomas had brought in the groceries and put them away for Laurie (Kendra), he found her curled up on their bed, crying. He came in and put his arms around her. He started kissing her to make her feel better. But Kendra wanted nothing from him. She wanted to be left alone.
“Please, Thomas. I just want to be left alone.” Kendra told him brushing him off her.
“I'm sorry, love. I was just trying to make you feel better.” Thomas explained.
“I just need a few minutes to think. I'll be fine.” Kendra told him. “I'll be back out in about fifteen minutes.”
“Okay, dear.” Thomas said, as he left her to her thinking.
Kendra had to come up with a way to explain to Bryan and clear things up so she could go home to heaven and leave this body. But how was she going to do that? © 2014 A Soap Mess Stories |
