Chapter 4

Chapter 4

A Chapter by A Soap Mess Stories

Kendra (Laurie) was sleeping in late, while Thomas prepared breakfast for his three children"Tommy, 8; Kassie, 6; and Ciara, 8 months. Tommy and Kassie were happy that their mother had miraculously came out of the coma. Thomas was fixing the childrens' plates when Kendra came out from the bedroom.

“Oh honey, you let me sleep. I smelled something delicious that woke me up.” Kendra said, as Thomas gave her a kiss, making Kendra extremely uncomfortable.

Thomas pulled out a chair for Kendra and brought her some of the pancakes and sausage that he had prepared for his family. He was so happy to have his wife back home, he kept his hand in hers the entire time they were eating.

As soon as they had finished eating, Kendra helped Tommy and Kassie with their backpacks before sending them out to wait for the school bus. Then she brought Thomas his briefcase and shoes and helped him get off for his day at work.

As soon as Kendra saw off Thomas and the older children, she picked up Ciara and held her in her arms. She wondered how she was going to pull all this off. Pretending to be Thomas' wife, Laurie would be hard enough without letting her own family knew who she really was. How was she going to solve her issues with her own family without revealing who she really was. And would any of them even believe her?

Kendra got dressed as soon as she put the dishes from breakfast in the dishwasher. She saw Thomas' note about going grocery shopping as they were getting low on food. He left her the checkbook to go grocery shopping. She got Ciara dressed and put her in the car seat in the back of the station wagon and got into the driver's seat and started the ignition and back out of the driveway and drove on down to Pike's Super Foods across town.

She pulled into a parking spot where she was somehow lucky to grab the first parking spot from the supermarket. She thought that a little weird since it never happened before. As Kendra was turning off the ignition, she spotted him. . .Bryan, holding hands with Amanda She started to get angry, then realized they would have been married by now if she hadn't ran into that tree that night, after she found Bryan in bed with Amanda.

Bryan pulled Amanda in for a kiss right there in front of the supermarket for everyone to see. It really hurt to see him kissing her best friend. Tears started to form, then she remembered she was not supposed to be Kendra, but Laurie. She dried what tears that started to form, and pulled Ciara out of the car seat and started inside the supermarket. She grabbed a cart and put Ciara in the front seat, then did the unthinkable.

She followed Bryan and Amanda, casually dropping items in her shopping cart, to make it look as if she were shopping. She watched them the whole time they were shopping, as they made out in the produce amongst the lettuce. Didn't they care about an audience? How could they do that in public? Kendra thought. Was she here to tell Bryan that she forgave him for sleeping with Amanda despite the fact that they were about to be married less than a month away?

Amanda jumped up when she spotted Kendra (Laurie) watching them. She tapped Bryan on the shoulder to alert him to the prying eyes. Then they walked on as if nothing had happened. Kendra wasn't deterred She continued to follow them right up to the end when they checked out. Pretending to use the restroom, Kendra waited for Bryan and Amanda to exit the supermarket, Kendra was waiting for them to get into their car.

She followed them as she assumed they were going home, but they were on their wait out of town. They were going out to the lake to spend the day. The shopping was for a picnic out on the lake. Kendra couldn't believe her eyes, when Bryan and Amanda got out of his Jeep and walked to their spot, THEIR SPOT. Bryan had told Kendra that this was their spot and that he would never bring anyone to this spot, for according to Bryan, it was sacred.

Kendra couldn't take anymore and went back to the station wagon. Putting Ciara back in the car seat, she stood outside the station wagon and cried a well of tears before getting in the driver's seat and heading back to town. She drove back to the supermarket to do the grocery shopping for Thomas and the kids.

As soon as she got what Thomas had on his grocery list, she pulled the shopping cart up to the checkstand and put the items on the checkout counter. When the cashier had rung up her order and gave Kendra the total, she handed them the check that Thomas had left for her. As the cashier was tendering the transaction, she got on the PA system and called a manager to checkstand #3. As soon as the manager got up to the checkstand, the chashier handed him the check. He took a look at it, then looked at Kendra. He pulled her to the side and showed her the check with Kendra's signature on it. Kendra felt like a fool to put her own name on the check instead of Laurie's.

“Is there anyway I can just give you another check?” Kendra asked the manager.

“I'm sorry ma'am, but I'll be detaining you in the front office until the authorities can come get you.” the manager informed Kendra.

“What? I'm going to jail for a simple mistake?” Kendra asked, disbelieving.

“I'm sorry, ma'am. It's out of my hands. The police will handle this. If you and your daughter will come with me.” the manager led Kendra to the front office.

Kendra couldn't believe this was happening. Why couldn't she just give them another check. The police got to the store, the manager reported the problem and the officer came and handcuffed Kendra on suspicion of fraud. The office led Kendra to the squad car, put her inside the car then asked then put Ciara in the car seat that the officer just happened to have in his squad car.

When the officer got Kendra to the police station, he booked Kendra and put her in a holding cell with and handed her Ciara until Thomas could come and get her. As Kendra waited for Thomas in the cell, she couldn't believe this was happening. What was Thomas going to think of her now?
