Chapter 1A Chapter by A Soap Mess StoriesAn angel stands by reaching out his hand to motion Kendra to come to the light. As Kendra's soul starts to follow the angel, the angel is stopped by the angel of death.
“Stop where you are!” the angel of death demands.
“Whatever for?” the angel spits back.
“This woman belongs to me.” the angel of death, reports. “She was promised to me by your master.”
“Sorry, but you must be mistaken.” the angel says. “My orders are to take this woman with me.”
“Your master promised her soul to me.” the angel of death grabs Kendra by the arm and pulls her away from the angel.
“Well, I'm sure you are mistaken somehow.”
“Well, let me speak with your master.”
Just then the angel receives a very shrill tone in his ear. He then reaches for Kendra and tugs her towards him.
“I'm sorry, but my master just informed me that Miss Wallingford is to come with me. You can take the matter up with my master.” the angel informs the angel of death.
“You can bet I will.” the angel of death replies.
Kendra is very confused as to what is happening. All she remembers is having a very emotional argument with her fiancee Bryan and jumping into his Jeep Wrangler, after a heated fight. She had just found out about his affair with her best friend, Amanda. Kendra didn't see the tree through the tears streaming down her face, when she suddenly lost control of the Jeep on the wet road due to the torrential downpour.
The next thing she knew, she saw herself leave her body and watch the paramedics frantically working on her, trying to desperately to revive her. When they failed, she immediately saw the man reach for her hand and lead her toward the light, when the other man came up and demanded she belonged to him. That was when the angel led Kendra to a room with several others. She was told to wait there until further notice.
“Sir?” Kendra asked a gentleman sitting alone on a bench. “Where are we?”
“Miss, don't you know?” the gentleman began. “This is the waiting room. For those of us who still have issues on earth when we die.”
“I still have issues on earth?” Kendra asked, a bit confused.
“Well, you must, or you wouldn't be here.”
“How long do we wait?”
“Until the issues are resolved.”
“Well, how long have you been waiting.”
“I don't know. It just feels like a very long time.” the gentleman tells her.
Kendra sat down and waited. I guess all she could do was wait. Wait to see what happened to her soul.
