Episode 3

A Chapter by A Soap Mess Stories

(Abby is getting ready for her date with Cody as Rhia comes in to talk to her.)

                                  RHIA
(Knocks on Abby's bedroom door.) Abby, are you there?

                                  ABBY

Come in Rhia.

                                  RHIA
(opens the door to come in.) Abby, do you have a minute?

                                  ABBY
Sure Rhia, whats up?

                                 RHIA
I've got a problem. (She looks to Abby for comfort.)

                                 ABBY
What's wrong?

                                 RHIA
I failed a test miserably and I'm afraid Dad will be upset with me.

                                 ABBY
Oh, Rhia! Dad won't be upset. Just explain to him what happened. I'm sure he'll understand.

                                 RHIA
(Sounding uneasy.) You sure?

ABBY

Of course. Now run along dear and tell Dad your problem. I have to get ready for this date, or I will be late.

RHIA

(Hugs Abby.) Thank you Abby. I love you sis.

(Rhia leaves Abby to get ready for her date with Cody and runs off to tell her Dad her problem.)

(Cody picks up Abby at her house for their study date.  He promised he would help her with her Physics assignment, but he had other things on his mind.)

ABBY

(Greets Cody at the front door)
Hi. Just got to get my study materials.

CODY

That's okay, dear. How about some dinner at Connie’s before studying?

ABBY

Sure, I’m kinda famished.

CODY

Okay, then dinner it is!

(Cody takes Abby to dinner.  Cody is helping Abby into the car after their dinner when he grabs her from behind and holds her nose with a rag dabbed in chloroform.  Abby passes out in Cody’s arms.  Cody sits Abby upright in the passenger seat of his car.  Then Cody dials a number on his cell.)

CODY

Mother, I have her.  What would you like me to do next?

TAMARA

Bring her to me.

CODY

Yes, Mother.

TAMARA

I need to start the next step in our plan to trap Seth II.

(Cody hangs up and gets in his car and starts the ignition and is on his way to his mother’s house.  When Cody arrives at his mother’s house, he picks up Abby and from the front passenger seat and carries her into his mother’s house.)

CODY

Mother, I’m home!

TAMARA

(Walking in off screen)  Oh great Cody, dear!  Take her upstairs and lay her on the bed where I set it up for her.  Stay up there and keep an eye on her until I tell you to come down.

CODY
Yes, mother.

(Tamara waits until Cody is upstairs with Abby before she takes out her cell to call Seth II.  She doesn’t want Cody to know that Abby is really Seth II’s daughter, and that Jackson Levitt raised her as his own.)

SETH II

Hello, who is this?

TAMARA

Seth, it's me, Tamara.

SETH II

Tamara?  Tamara who?

TAMARA

Tamara Wilson.  You remember me.  From our college days?

(Seth's college days come flooding back to him.)

SETH II

Tamara, so nice to hear from you.  What did you want?

TAMARA

I have your daughter here.

SETH II

My daughter?  Which one?  Arianna?  Celestia?  What have you done with her?

TAMARA

Not those two.  Your other daughter?

SETH II

What do you mean, Tamara?  I only have two daughters.

TAMARA

Wrong, my dear Seth.  You have another daughter.  Abby Levitt.  Your first daughter.  With Marissa.

SETH II

What are talking about?  Abby Levitt is Jackson Levitt's daughter.

TAMARA

I'm sorry.  Weren't you told the truth?  Did your sweet Marissa neglect to tell you she was pregnant with your child when you broke her heart for Camille?

SETH II

Marissa was pregnant?  With my child?  I never knew.

TAMARA

Yes, dear Seth.  Jackson raised Abby as his own all this time.  And your sweet Marissa has been in a mental hospital ever since she gave birth to Jackson's youngest daughter, Rhiannon.  I hear Jackson has never forgiven you for Marissa going into the hospital.

SETH II

What do you want, Tamara?

TAMARA

I want you to acknowledge Cody as your son.

SETH II

Who is Cody?

TAMARA

Cody is my son, Seth.  Your son.  The result of our one-night of passion before you ended our fling and married Camille.

SETH II

Let me get this straight.  If I announce Cody as my son, you won't expose Abby Levitt as my daughter?

TAMARA

That's right.  Because if this gets out, Jackson will be devastated.  He doesn't want you to know Abby is your daughter.

SETH II

Why doesn't Jackson want me know Abby is my daughter?

TAMARA

He blames you for Marissa being institutionalized.  He murdered your maid, Coralee.

SETH II

How do you know it was Jackson that murdered Coralee?

TAMARA

I told him to do it.  We wanted payback for what you did to us back in college.

SETH II

And what if I go to Jerry and Jimmy and tell them all this?

TAMARA

If you do, I'll expose our little fling right before your engagement to Camille and tell everyone that not only is Abby Levitt is your daughter, but that Cody Wilson is your son as well.  Do you want your sweet Camille finding out you have two illegimate children?

SETH II

No.  I'll have the papers drawn up with my attorney to have Cody in my will.

TAMARA

Thank you, Seth.  I knew you would see things my way.  Have a nice night.  Talk to you later, Seth.

(Tamara hung up her cell before Seth II could get a last word in.  Tamara laughed maniacally now that she had Seth Rainier, II right where she had him.  She couldn't believe that Seth was stupid enough to believe the lie she just told him.  He actually believed her when she told him she had Jackson Levitt kill his beloved maid Coralee.  She wondered what he would do if he knew her real secret?)

(Scene fades out.)
