Chapter 1

Chapter 1

A Chapter by A Soap Mess Stories

After two years of marriage, Victoria was starting to give up on Trent.  The trouble started when Victoria got pregnant with their daughter, Cheyenne.  During her pregnancy, Edith began nitpicking every little thing that Victoria did.  Did she eat enough?  Did she drink enough water? Milk?  Has she stopped drinking soda with caffeine?  Did she smoke?  Take drugs?  Drink alcohol?  Edith made sure to remind Victoria every single day how bad it was for the baby to drink alcohol, do drugs, and drink anything with caffeine.  Edith even told Victoria that she had to quit her job because the stress would hurt the baby.  There was even a drag-out argument between Edith, Trent, Victoria, and Trent's father, Trent, Jr.  Edith slammed Victoria, telling her how bad a mother she was to continue working during her pregnancy.  In the end, Edith won her argument and Victoria was forced to quit her job.  And to make matters worse, Trent and Victoria couldn't pay the rent or the power bill because of the loss of income and were forced to move in with Edith.

It was even worse living with Edith.  Victoria could no longer watch her soap operas.  In fact, she couldn't watch anything but wholesome television shows.  Edith expected Victoria to watch wholesome shows so the baby would have "wholesome" values.  One day, Edith nearly beat Victoria within an inch of her life because she caught Victoria reading a romance novel.  Edith grabbed the book, threw the book in the trash, and picked up her reacher, and beat Edith with it.  The next day, when Victoria and Trent woke up, Edith had a long list of rules for them to abide by if they were to live in her home.  The rules were ridiculous.  Victoria couldn't do anything but sit on the sofa and watch religious shows.  She couldn't even a simple task like wash dishes or vacuum the floor because the "strenuous" exercise might hurt the baby.

Edith demanded Victoria's meals be brought to her.  If Victoria had to use the bathroom, without Edith accompanying her.  Edith claimed she was just making sure everything was okay with her and the baby.  The one thing that made Victoria mad was that she and Trent could no longer be intimate.  That was strictly forbidden.  Edith went so far as to leave articles stating how wrong it was to be intimate during the pregnancy.  Victoria wondered where Edith got her information.  It was useless to debate Edith on any topic.  So Victoria and Trent had a sexless marriage during her pregnancy.

When the day came for Victoria to give birth to the baby, there was nothing but chaos.  Edith demanded to be in the room when Victoria delivered the baby along with Trent.  She demanded for the doctor to scrub up five times before touching Victoria or the baby.  And when the baby was born, she demanded to be the first one to hold the baby.  The doctor was about to put the baby in Victoria's arms and Edith snatched the baby from the doctor's arms before he could put the baby in Victoria's.  Then, Edith told the doctor that it should be time for them to check the baby and make sure it was healthy.  To make things worse, Edith had to be the one in the nursery when the nurses examined her.

Victoria just wanted to die.  This day should have been a happy day.  But Edith had made it a nightmare.  She argued with Victoria's family.  She argued with the nurses and doctors and other hospital staff.  She even argued with dietary staff when they brought the wrong meal for Victoria, and an orderly for using profanity in he was in the room around the baby and Victoria.  Edith even had a hissy fit when Victoria asked, politely, if she could have an hour alone with Cheyenne.  That set Edith off!  She accused Victoria of denying her the right to see her granddaughter.  The whole time Victoria was in the hospital with Cheyenne, Edith was around.  Victoria's own mother couldn't even come and see her granddaughter.  None of Victoria's entire family was banned from seeing Victoria or the baby.  They were unfit to be around Cheyenne.

When Cheyenne's first birthday came around, Edith planned the whole party.  Of course, Victoria's familly were banned from coming to the party.  The guests were Trent's family and Edith's friends.  Edith even threw Victoria's cell across the room when she caught Victoria on the phone texting her mother.  Edith told Victoria that since she couldn't be trusted, she was not allowed to own a cell.  She had to use Edith's if she needed to call someone and Edith would be monitoring every call she made.

After a year of living with Edith, Victoria decided she had to get out of this marriage.  She couldn't take anymore.  But how was she going to get from under Edith's control and out of this marriage.  Victoria didn't have a clue about the trouble that was to ensue when she attempted to divorce Trent.
