Harry Thynne is a Sydney-born drummer, songwriter, and producer whose career melds the technical with raw energy. Renowned for his versatility, Thynne's work spans genres and continents, showcasing a dynamic style that is as precise as deeply expressive. As described by collaborator Matt Ellis, "Harry Thynne is a one-of-a-kind drummer, seamlessly blending precision and groove with an infectious, energetic punk enthusiasm.”

Growing up in Sydney's eastern suburbs, Harry, the son of a musician and actor mother, started his musical journey when he was eight. He wanted to play guitar but was too small, so he took up the drums" a serendipitous choice that shaped his future. Along the way, he studied violin, piano, and guitar to develop an eclectic musical foundation. His education at the Australian Institute of Music, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and JMC Academy, together with mentorship from drumming legend Danny Heifetz (Mr. Bungle), molded him into the exceptional artist he is today.

Thynne cut his teeth in Sydney's underground music scene, playing in punk and metal bands across Marrickville's warehouse district. The city's waning live music scene pushed him toward alternative spaces, where he cultivated a DIY ethos and built a loyal following. During this time, he lent his drumming talents to an eclectic array of projects, from musical theater to massive drum jams, further solidifying his reputation as a creative force.

In 2007, Thynne formed WIM, an indie band that quickly gained a Sydney following. The band's self-titled album, produced by Bob Clearmountain, saw wide critical acclaim, while NPR named WIM one of 2011's best-emerging acts. International appearances for the band included the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW, plus touring duties with Other Lives, who exposed Thynne's dynamic drumming to the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, Thynne also co-founded the heavy rock project Drop Tank, where he explored his love for intense, high-energy music. Based in Los Angeles and New York, the band built up a devoted following, playing at events like SXSW and underground festivals.

The collaborations of Harry Thynne range from drumming, producing, and songwriting for Hero Fisher, August Brown, and Joe Gould to composition work for film and bold solo projects. This raw energy, combined with rhythmic brilliance, makes him a force both in the studio and on stage. He is a deeply respected artist among his peers. As Jason Lowrie puts it, "Harry is a god damn gangster on the drums… an anomaly as an individual and truly a proper gentleman scoundrel of the greatest quality."
