Producer and Director James Hill Continues to Excel in the Film and TV World

James Hill continues to be an amazing example in the film world, with his brilliant work!

It would be great to be the producer of a TV show, and know that if your camera operator, director, or even editor didn’t show up for work, you’d have someone right there to film in. Well, if you are James Olav Hill, that person is you. 

Don’t let his young-looking face fool you; James has well over a decade of experience in the entertainment business. Despite being a producer and director, he has hundreds of hours operating all types of cameras and edited multiple episodes of television. 

James is now a Co-EP, but during his time in the industry, he has been the camera operator as well as director and producer on many primetime TV shows show. Holding down the responsibilities of directing, producing and shooting at the same time presents its own set of logistical challenges as we can all imagine. Just the basics of keeping track of what shots you need to capture throughout the day is hard enough, let alone the thought of guiding the contributors and getting the project wrapped on time and within budget. James has proven himself, however, time and time again and his competency and clear mindedness are always on display whenever he is working on a show. He has become incredibly skilled at each discipline, along with being quite adept at the art and craft of editing while using state of the art editing formats including Avid, Final Cut and Adobe Premiere. 

Did we mention that James has a degree in psychology? Well, he does, and he earned it while attending the City University of London in the UK. Not that a Psychology degree is necessary in any field other than the medical world, but how nice it must be to have someone who understands and even empathizes with fellow workers and who can dig a little deeper into the minds of contributors to get the best out of them. 

As James has progressed in the industry, he has focused on supervising producer and Co-EP roles. Not many producers are able to work with the heads of departments in the manner that James is, and this is thanks to his experience and knowledge of shooting, directing and editing. The ability to talk with each of these departments in the way he can is one of the cornerstones to James’ success.
