Most people are not gifted artists. They might be gifted in other ways, but definitely not art. Drawing a stick man with any sign of personality would never fit into their daily routine, nor would it cross most people’s minds to even draw one anyway. When someone comes along who can and does draw images that are over flowing with personality and movement, the world stops, looks in awe and is stunned at the beauty and the talent that has come out of the hand and mind of that particular artist. Of course, all this build up is to praise the wonderful artist and animator Junyi Zhang.

She is incredibly talented as her body of work easily demonstrates. She is a master artist and multimedia artist / background design artist along with being a concept artist. She worked for Intellipro Group for the Funplus Design Island. Design Island is a mobile game which got over 100K download clicks at Google play app store and 22K at apple store. Funplus is one of the most significant companies in the interactive industry, with employees coming from more than 20 countries, located at Beijing, Taipei, San Francisco, Singapore and Tokyo. She was responsible for environment concept designs, background designs and character designs.

She is also the Concept Designer & Background Designer & Painter for the highly successful animated series Valt the Wonder Deer. DreamEast Pictures, which produced the animated series makes both animated and live-action films with franchise potential for audiences of all ages. Their flagship television project is Valt the Wonder Deer and season one and season two are airing in china now.

Junyi Zhang has created background designs for over 60 episodes so far. Looking at some of Junyi Zhang’s drawings and renderings can literally take one’s breath away. It’s like walking unexpectedly into a magic garden that is overflowing with the most vivid and beautiful colors ever seen. She fully grasps lighting techniques. Saying that is almost an oxymoron because there are no real lighting techniques in drawing or animation. That is, there is not a gaffer or electrician standing behind her steadying a large Fresnel lamp as she is adding “light” to her work. She is creating it all from scratch, which once again, boggles the minds of non-artists and other artists alike. Junyi’s skills are powerful and first rate and have made her a famous artist internationally. One might even call her work exquisite.
