The Incredible Work Of Jake CarmonaA Story by starpowerRecord producer, recording engineer and music editor Jake CarmonaWe
read a lot of resumés and many of them are pretty impressive. They basically
list all of the relevant acting jobs or directing gigs, etc., that people want
the reader, usually a potential employer, to know about. They read like the
credits at the end of a movie, telling what part the person played in a
specific film or stage play or commercial. Jake Carmona’s resumé gives out the
same information, that is, what he has done over the years in his position as
record producer, music editor and/or recording engineer. There is, however, one
difference that makes his CV altogether unique and exceptional: he has more
credits than we have ever seen on anyone’s resumé ever. The
list of his artistic contributions is staggering. But, when you consider that
he’s been working in the music since he was fourteen and he’s in his early
thirties now, I was going to say that it makes sense but it is still an
overwhelming body of work for anyone. He first learned the art of being a
Recording Engineer. He did that for the legendary Mexican music producer and
famed guitarist Kukin Carmona, who just happens to be Jake’s dad. At that time,
and at that studio, besides becoming proficient at editing on Pro Tools, Avid
Technolology’s digital audio workstation, He also worked with a number of
projects for talents such as, Tatiana, El Poder del Norte, Pedro Fernandez and
Los Temerarios, among many others. Then he moved to CRS in Monterrey, Mexico where he was the studio manager, mixing engineer, Recording Engineer and editor. He also expanded technically by mastering Plug Ins, Control Surfaces, D/A and A/D Converters, Clocks, Digital and Analog Patch-Bays, Analog & Digital outboard equipment including mic-pre-amps, compressors, equalizers, and other standard recording studio hardware. Soundlab Recording signed Jake next and he was their Studio Manager, Chief Mixing Engineer, Chief Recording Engineer and Pro Tools and Melodyne Engineer. He created and managed budgets and delegated and supervised all studio tasks. Jake then became a Record Producer and Chief Recording Engineer at El Cielo Recording Studio and Movic Records where he collaborated on the development of new artists and projects. He also worked as Pro Tools Editor and Melodyne Editor for Producer Thom Russo who did Michael Jackson’s Thriller, among other famous records and music pieces. These
are just a taste of what Jake has worked on and the talents and skills he has
acquired over the years. We haven’t even scratched the surface of Jake’s resumé yet. © 2020 starpower |
