One Of Australia's Brightest Stars, Joshua DiazA Story by starpowerJoshua Diaz, making big moves in his acting career!Joshua Diaz at the premiere of 'Red Dog' We recently caught up with Aussie actor Joshua Diaz, who has been busy working on some exciting projects including a role on 'Neighbours', one of Australia's longest running soap operas. In between his busy schedule, he found the time to talk about his latest projects, as well as his advice to aspiring artists. Here is what he had to say: Hi Josh, it's always great catching up with you. Lets talk about how you first got into acting and performing: I first started
acting classes when I was 18 and I would catch the train down from the countryside, which was 2
hours there and two hours back. Then I would get home around 1 am, get up and go to work the next day,
What type of training have you had, if any? I took classes at the
national theatre, then I headed to the mines to save up some money, so I could move to LA. I applied to the Stella Adler Acting School, in LA and was fortunately, accepted then went on to receiving a scholarship, I then moved back to Melbourne to work on two feature films 'Tarnation' and 'Somewhere Over That Rainbow'. I then landed two episodes on channel ten's longest running soap 'Neighbours' (also, the launching pad of Aussie superstar, Kylie Minogue) where I played Keith Smidt.
What inspired you to get into the entertainment business? It was my constant self education in film and TV and just the love of it all and wanting to have that effect on people all around the world. This has always been what drives me to want to do this. What was one of your favorite roles to play and why?
My favorite role thus far, would be, playing Keith on 'Neighbours'. Everyone on set was so nice and welcoming and it was all very professional. What is one of the biggest highlights or achievements in your career, so far? The most exciting thing to
happen in my career would have to be going to the premiere of 'Red Dog' as a special guest, which was quiet exciting. What other projects do you have coming up?
I have been cast in a pilot called 'Witches' where I play the lead character of "Jared", which is exciting. It is a combination of 'Twilight' and 'Underworld'. It is really cool to be a part of it. Who would you most like to work with and why?
I'd love to work
with either Tom Hardy or Mark Ruffalo. These are definitely two guys that I find to be really interesting and
talented. What are your plans for the future?
My plan for the future would be to head back to the US and start working on some feature films
there. What would be your best piece of advice to aspiring artists, wanting to do what you do?
All I can say is, it's a numbers game. You just have to keep showing up and
always look back on why you are doing this in the first place.
