What a life some movie people have. Take Arevik Acopian, for example. She’s an editor and she has worked for production companies all across Europe editing films and particularly, movie trailers and promos, which are her specialty. She has edited promos for Corleone Films, which produced promos for Movistar Channel, the biggest on-demand platform for movies and TV shows in Spain. She has also worked for Fox International in Spain, which produced promotional and cinematic trailers for Fox, Foxlife, Foxmovies, 24Kitchen and National Geographic Channels.

It must be fun to be in the movie and TV business. Arevik really can’t see herself doing anything else with her life. Once she started to edit footage that she shot while she was at the University of Brera in Italy, that was it for her. She decided to stop studying painting, which she had been doing since she was a young girl, changed her academic major and got a masters in Editing and Post-Production instead of painting.

She finds that editing can be just as creative and certainly as satisfying as painting with acrylics on a canvas. Editing, in a sense is painting also, only on a different type of canvas. It is an art and a craft and requires creativity along with technical know-how to complete an editing project. She understood that right away when she first looked at film and digital footage that wasn’t edited. She instinctively knew that telling a story properly in the context of a film or a movie trailer or promo, means that the shots and images have to be in some kind of order so the audience can readily understand what is being said.

All of that takes organizational skills, patience and the ability to see the big picture. Arevik has all those attributes and she has demonstrated it by editing promos for large companies such as, the Bank of Santander, Carbonel, one of Spain’s large oil companies, HomeServe, the home emergency repairs business, Vodafone Spain, 20 Minutos Magazine, BBVA Bank, Tourism Web TV of Murcis, Spain, along with being the editor for Russian and Baltic Fox TV shows, among many others.

Arevik is working on a documentary called “A Lucky Man.” She wrote it and directed it and obviously she will do the editing. It’s her project and she traveled to Armenia to shoot it. It’s about her cousin Armen and his journey and struggle to get a green card to come and work in the United States. The film is in post-production and it should be released soon.
