The Next Audrey Hepburn Romane PortailA Story by starpowerOne of France's most beautiful and brightest stars, Romane PortailIt must be
nice to know what you want to be when you grow up when you’re just a kid.
That’s how it was with Romane Portail, the French actress who now resides in
Great Britain and works in France, the U.K. and the United states. Ever since
Romane was a little girl she has been around acting and acting coaches. In fact,
when she auditioned for the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts of Orleans, she was
personally selected by the director, Jean Claude Cotillard, Marion Cotillard’s
father.
She trained
there for three years and then she auditioned for another prestigious French
acting school, the ENSATT (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts
et Techniques du Théâtre) and was one
of only 12 students out of 800 applicants to be accepted into the school. The
chosen ones, including Romane, each received a 3-year full scholarship to the
school paid for by the French government. Apparently, the French think very
highly of talented actors and artists and are willing to invest in developing their
talents for the future.
Romane moved
to Paris after graduating ENSATT and began working immediately. She was in
numerous stage plays, which included many classics, along with contemporary
productions. She toured throughout Europe with “Les Montagnes Russe,” which was
also filmed and broadcast on French TV. She also performed in French TV shows
such as "Simple question de temps,” with
Philippe Caroit in “Mallory”; and with Sagamore Stévenin in "Falco".
She worked with the Washowski sisters (The Matrix Trilogy- V for Vendetta) on
the second season of the Netflix series ‘Sense 8’. Her most notable role in
movies was in "Le fils de Jean" alongside Pierre Deladonchamps
(cesar- winning actor) by Philippe Lioret (the well-known French director).
Romane
currently lives in London and works internationally. Her recent performance as
the lead in the webseries, “Urban Jungle,” has brought her rave reviews and a
lot of well deserved attention. “Urban Jungle was shot in English, which she is
quite fluid in and produced by Studio +. The series was released in late 2016. Romane
also had a part in an episode of season 2’s Sense8, the very famous Netflix
series directed by the Wachowski Sisters, which was really exciting for her.
This
very talented actress can steal scenes quicker than a blink of an eye. It
doesn’t look like she’s trying to do it but her natural beauty and incredible
acting talent just invites the audience to follow her wherever she is on the
big screen. We just feel sorry for all the other actors who have to share
scenes with her.
