The Talented and Enchanting Rachel KamathA Story by starpowerProfile of actress Rachel KamathPhoto by: Alexander Schottky One sure road to becoming an accomplished and well-established actress in Hollywood and Australia is by first graduating from a prestigious university with a Civil Engineering degree. Isn’t that what your parents told you? Isn’t that the first thing your agent talked about when you walked into his or her office? Okay, maybe we’re pulling your leg, but one actress who has a resumé full of movies, TV shows and stage plays did exactly that. Rachel Kamath, the beautiful Australian actress of Indian heritage, did indeed work hard to get her Civil Engineering degree and then became a busy working actress in Australia after she finished school. She did plenty of commercials along with TV appearances while she was down under. After that Rachel fixed her focus on moving to Los Angeles where there are more opportunities to advance an acting career. She immersed herself in the intensive two-year acting program at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, one of the premiere acting conservatories in the United States. In fact, Stella Adler, who is no longer with us, was one of the only Americans who studied under the creator of modern acting techniques, Constantine Stanislavsky. Ms. Adler then developed an acting technique that uses “the whole actor-body and mind to produce real, practical acting results.” Rachel apparently uses Stella Adler’s refined acting techniques for many of the stand-out roles she is known for, including parts in, A Water Stinger, Best Before and Frenchman’s Flat (directed by fellow Aussie Jonathon Williams) to name just a few of the films she has been featured in. Rachel has also appeared in quite a few stage plays, some of which are, 12, Mad Love, The Destiny of Me and Homebody/Kabul.
Rachel is a vibrant presence, whether it’s on stage or on a motion picture set. She has great poise and control, impeccable timing and she speaks three languages fluently, in case you need her to be in your foreign film or just tell jokes in French, Hindi or English. She has had a very busy year and it looks like 2017 is going to be just as busy for her. You can catch Rachel when her new movie comes out (she won’t tell us the title " she wants to surprise us) and in other projects that are currently in the works. © 2016 starpower |
