Actress Profile: The Beautiful Genevieve Mora

Genevieve Mora, turning heads wherever she goes

Genevieve Mora is no stranger to the entertainment business. When she was 12 she was in her first commercial in New Zealand, her home country and it seems as though she’s been busy ever since. Genevieve has been in feature-length movies, short films, commercials and stage plays and since she’s moved to Los Angeles, West Hollywood to be more precise, she is constantly working and noticing how different the film industry is in the States compared with New Zealand.

 

Back in New Zealand, Genevieve told us, you have to have an agent to get any kind of acting work. In Hollywood, however, there are any number of casting sites that simply announce jobs and where and when to audition. You can basically just find your own work. She tells us that networking is absolutely huge in California and you can walk into almost any café or coffee house in Los Angeles and find people working on their screenplays. In New Zealand that is a rare event. Maybe that’s why they call Hollywood the movie capital of the world �" everyone and his brother (or sister) is trying to get into the movie business.

 

Genevieve is one of those actors who is actually “in” the industry and she has gotten in by way of her talent and frequency of work. One of her favorite acting jobs was when she booked a CORT Furniture commercial. They shot for two days in Los Angeles and she was able to see and learn a great deal about the city during those forty-eight hours. It was a big crew and a lot of fun. She also loved working on the independent feature, Josh’s Lovers. It was months after she auditioned for that role, so long she had almost forgotten about it, that she received notice that she had indeed won the part �" it was one of her best days ever. The actual shooting of the film was done over a period of weeks, with an amazing cast, crew and director who has worked with the likes of Tom Berenger and Christina Ricci. Genevieve says the work was exhilarating.

 

Genevieve has done quite a few film projects and her ideal job would be acting steadily on a TV show in the next five years. She feels life is short and she simply loves waking up and getting excited about going to work.
