The Amazing work of actress Cassandra HodgesA Story by starpowerCassandra Hodges taking on HollywoodWell, you think it’s going to be a nice little profile of an actress who only has one or two commercials or short film credits to her name and then you pull up her resumé and you’re blown away by the immensity of the thing. That’s how it was when I started writing about the amazing actress and theatre producer, Cassandra Hodges. I was blown away by the sheer volume of her body of work. Sure, she did have a few credits in commercials and short films, although they were practically hidden away under the weight of all the other incredible things she has done in her short time on our planet. Cassandra has done what other actors have only dreamed of doing and her talents are so numerous that I already know there is not enough room here to mention all of them. Maybe Cassandra needs a book outlining her fabulous acting and producing career instead of a few hundred-word article. Cassandra can sing, (soprano); she plays several musical instruments, flute and ukulele; she dances, ballet, tap, jazz, salsa, and she speaks in an array of accents, Irish, American standard, Cockney, London, Welsh, Australian and of course, Yorkshire. Now I’m either getting dizzy or jealous, I can’t quite tell. Her beautiful and fully confident face tells us that she has seen a great deal of life and knows even more about the world and its inhabitants than five of the most famous psychiatrists put together. She not only graces the stage and movie sets with her wonderful and highly polished acting skills, but Cassandra is also a stage play producer and co-runs a theatre company called Tales Retold in London along with being the resident producer at the Hope Theatre. I think I’m getting jealous again. Yes, I’m sure that’s what it is. Her acting experience covers the gamut of the most desirable plays in the universe, from Shakespeare, (Othello, Romeo and Juliet, MacBeth, Measure for Measure,) to the more modern Bite-Size Lunchtime Foreplay and Red Riding Hood. Then there are the movies, and remember, we have only touched on Cassandra’s truly long resumé of stage roles and we offer the same explanation for the movies she’s been in: there just isn’t enough room to tell you everything. The soon to be released fifth installment of the Jason Bourne film series has the lovely Cassandra in its camera sights, and she was also in the 2015 feature film from MGM, Me Before You. She also had roles in the highly praised short films, If I Could Walk Without Shame, and Absent, The Duchess of Argyll. Well, we’ve come to the end of this piece and we’ve barely scratched the surface of this fascinating performer. Next time we’ll see if we can dive a little deeper into what makes this intriguing woman so passionate about what she does. © 2016 starpower |
