The fascinating and talented Dralla AiekrenA Story by starpowerDralla Aiekren has Hollywood buzzing! We recently caught up with the fascinating and beautiful actress Dralla Aiekren, about her latest projects and inspirations growing up. Here is what she had to say: Please
introduce yourself to the readers and how and when did you first get
into performing?
My name is Dralla Aiekren. I was drawn to the artistic world ever since I
was a little kid. I started dancing and painting at a very young age, but it wasn’t
until being in a play during college that I discovered my true passion -acting.
What inspired you to get into this
industry? I started
auditioning in Beijing at the age of 19. I found myself most alive and happy
when I was acting and did everything I could to be in as many productions as
possible. I was becoming more and more sure that I was put on this earth to
perform. I took a year off from college to pursue acting in Beijing
professionally and next thing I know I was starring in theater festivals in
Beijing, acting in the first production of ‘Man Of La Mancha’ in China and
getting movie offers. After that year, I went back to school to finish my
studies at the most prestigious university in China "Peking University and
decided to pursue acting seriously. What kind of training have you had,
if any? I was
always more inspired by American TV shows and movies and I aspired to one day
be in them myself. Since most of my acting had been in English, I knew language
would not be a problem. I wanted to get the best training possible and was
overjoyed when I was accepted into A.R.T. at Harvard. This two-year MFA program
not only provided me with all the tools and skills I needed to further my
acting career, it helped me embrace my inner artist. In addition to completing
my program, I had the honor to be part of many professional theater productions
in New York and Boston. They taught me things I could not have learned in a
classroom. After I
got my MFA, I decided to pursue a career in film and TV instead of Theater. I
still think my theater education is crucial to who I am as an actor now, but I
knew I needed on screen acting training if I were to have any success. As soon
as I moved to LA, I started my training and Lesly Khan Actor Training " one of
the best acting schools in LA. What has been your favorite role to
play so far? I tend to
fall in love with every role I play. But my favorite so far has to be Wendy in
the film ‘I Do’. My character is absolutely on an emotional rollercoaster and
it was a great challenge for me. It ended up being a very gratifying experience
and the director was very pleased and even a little surprised by my
performance. What has been one of the biggest
achievements of your career so far? I played
the role of Gravitron in Light Princess that performed off-Broadway in NY. The
play received glowing reviews and I’m very proud to have been part of the
production. What projects do you have coming up? I have a
potential feature coming up as well as some other smaller projects. I like to
keep myself busy acting. Who would you most like to work
with? Part of
the fun of acting is getting to know your scene partners and go on a brief but intimate
journey with them. I’m always pleasantly surprised by how talented the people I
work with are. I can’t wait for my next adventure. What are your plans for the future? I would
love to continue acting in Hollywood and continue further my career here. What is your advice to aspiring
performers? Don’t let
anyone define who you are, where you should be and what you should be doing. Every
artist’s path is different. For more
