The remarkable work of actor Daniel DelHoyo

Daniel DelHoyo has everybody talking in Hollywood

Who is this guy, this actor from Mexico who is causing so much buzz in the film world? He was in Robert Girault’s Illusiones SA, which I loved, and now he’s in Alfredo Ibarra’s movie Por Sofia. Of course, he’s no stranger to Mr. Ibarra, as this is his second outing in the acclaimed director’s creative endeavors. Daniel DelHoyo brought his high acting skills to Ibarra’s horror film Obsidian, not too long ago and apparently, the two artists got along so well that Director Ibarra invited him back to be in his newest film Por Sofia. Por Sofia, by the way, will be aired soon on Cinelatino, the Spanish language channel that focuses on feature films and broadcasts them throughout Latin America, the United States and Canada.

 

Daniel DelHoyo is a strong and natural actor and has been through extensive training at Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Hollywood. Every time I see him �" in anything, he puts his whole heart and soul into the role he’s playing at the moment. It feels as if nothing else exists for this brilliant actor but the character and the story that he’s a part of. He brings a subtle sophistication that permeates each scene that he is in. His poise, composure and refinement are all evident even if he has no lines to speak in a given scene. He also has impressive accent and dialect ability, something that only a few other mainstream actors can pull off convincingly.

 

Daniel DelHoyo has been in a number of other films in 2015 including, Aram, Aram which won high praise and awards at the St. Louis Film Festival. When asked how he got the pivotal roll of “Mailman” in Illusiones SA, Mr. DelHoyo responded that before the audition he researched everything about the character and life in Campeche, Mexico, which included working at the local post office to get a feel of what a mailman really did. All that research and three sleepless nights paid off and Daniel won the part.

 

Since I got to preview Por Sofia before most people, I can only say that you will thoroughly enjoy the movie when you catch it and more importantly, you will enjoy the very professional acting ability of Daniel DelHoyo.
