POPULAR UK FILM AND THEATRE ACTOR DAVID CASTLEFORDA Story by starpowerInternational success- David CastlefordDavid Castleford has been acting almost his whole life, even though he turned professional as an adult. His childhood memories are full of reciting poetry and performing. He got interested in these two art forms because he had lost a tooth, which caused him to have a speech impediment. The wonderful teachers his parents delivered him to for elocution lessons not only remedied his habitual mispronunciations of our beautiful language, but they inspired him to go to the lights " the theatre lights, that is. He always maintained an interest in things theatrical but since his parents weren’t very supportive of him running off with an acting troupe and not having “a real job,” David went to college, got a teaching degree and taught school for a living. Of course, once the acting bug bites you, you are pretty much under its spell for the rest of your life. And that’s the way it was with David. One evening, when he was wrestling with some schoolbooks at home, he realized that teaching simply wasn’t for him, a life-changing decision for sure. David threw off the yoke of academia and began his fantastic journey into the world of the imagination " acting. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the London Centre for Theatre Studies, two extremely prestigious training grounds for professional actors. His intensive studies taught him a great deal and was cast in a number of well-known plays there. He also met, befriended and studied under the brilliant Michael Birch, who, incidentally, directed many famous actors such as Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, to name a few. The theatre, David learned, tolerates no mistakes. It is a demanding and an extreme sport, according to David. But, he says, as intense as it is, it is also just as rewarding, or why would so many actors continue to do it year after year, play after play? David’s favorite role so far, was when he played Lucky Eric in John Godber’s Bouncers. David is also doing quite a lot of film work these days. He’s scheduled to be in a feature film called Free To Be, and he’s been cast to shoot another one early next year. Life is good for David Castleford. He is living his dream of being an actor and he no longer has to correct students’ essays and homework. What a lucky guy! © 2015 starpower |
