The astonishing work of the talented and gorgeous Mireya RiosA Story by starpowerActress Mireya Rios stars in iFoodThe ever-busy Mireya Rios is always on the move and seemingly always working on a film or a play or a TV show. She recently worked on a project driven by the well-known filmmaker, Carlos Davila. He’s the guy who made the highly praised and multi-award winning short film The Kiss. Right, that’s the one that debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival and Cannes and then it was bought by HBO. Wow! What a mouthful! Anyway, Mireya seems to be in demand by some of the best directors around and she ends up somehow being magnetically drawn to the most interesting projects. Another recent short that Mireya
appeared in is called iFood. It talks about how
technology has changed the way we interact with each other and with our food.
It used to be that we got our food, smelled it, tasted it and share it with
each other. Now our first interaction with our food is through a screen we put
between us and our food. We take a picture, we send it around the globe, and
then we taste our food.
An interesting idea for sure, and Mireya
understands that technology has encroached on all of our lives in one way or
the other, no matter how harmless it may seem to be. She has also done work for
a business called, Foodlosofia, which is a food design company. They are a
company that strives to change the way we think of food and how we interact
with it. Their new book, Mexico Food and
Design is a Mexican love letter to the world in which they talk about their
philosophy on food design specifically focusing on Mexico. In this book they
partnered with 20 creatives to get individual takes on topics given to each
artist. iFood, the way technology has impacted the way we eat, is just one of
these topics.
Mireya is a fascinating human being and a
beautiful woman who just happens to be a successful actress. Lucky her! She is
in a position to be able to pick and choose her roles and she generally chooses
scripts that have a great deal of meaning to her and apparently, to a lot of
other people as well. She is perfectly at home in Monterrey, Mexico, where she
was born and raised, and she is also equally as comfortable in New York, Los
Angeles and Switzerland. We can’t wait to see what this most interesting woman
is going to do next.
