Mandy Thandi, at the vast old age of 24, has socked a lot of acting training and actual professional performing success into a very small period of time. She was initially disappointed by failure, not only in studying accounting, but also her initial foray into the acting world (she was rejected by the notable acting school of Rose Bruford in the United Kingdom, of which she is an original native (though originally from Indian descent). But she did not allow early failure to deter her dream of stardom: she auditioned for and was accepted in the prestigious University of Bedfordshire.
While at university, she also co-wrote a play wherein she brought to life the complex role of “Trixie” a character with a tragic background of both rape and drug abuse. As of the present, she’s filming an episode of a television pilot called “Guilty Pleasures”, her role being “Ruby.” Ruby is a stretch for Mandy because this character is 15 years old … nearly ten years Mandy’s current age of twenty-four. Other auditions have transpired and now it’s a matter of an actor’s least favorite pastime to pass: hurry up and wait.
Her inspirations include notable British actresses, Preeya Kalidas and Parminder Nagra. Her eclectic skills (no doubt to be employed in future roles) include Netball, Football (Wrestling) and just working out in general. She plans on having action star Dwayne Johnson act opposite her one day. With an eclectic background such as that of Ms. Thandi, one should look for her performing her own stunts in an action pix starring Mr. Johnson himself!
