Alon Bentley’s Success StoryA Story by starpowerInternational Success, Performing Artist Alon BentleyBorn in Northampton, England to former band manager Graham Bentley and sensational Adult and Child fiction author Sue Bentley, Performing artist Alon Bentley is a star in his own right. Being raised in a creative environment meant that his childhood was somewhat unusual. One particular memory for him was falling asleep in a lighting case during the video shoot of Bauhaus’s Ziggy Stardust. The band was one that his father managed during Alon’s infancy. It only makes sense that Alon would follow in his father’s footsteps and develop a passion for music. After perfecting his art in an acoustic duo and impressing at open mic nights in England, it would only be a matter of time before Alon broke the shackles of a small town mentality and set eyes across the Atlantic. American rockers Creed inspired Alon to form his own band which he named Last Stop China Town, and in 2006 released their first album entitled “Vital Signs.” The album featured two hit singles, Just Ashes and Soldiers of Fortune. After the album’s release, the band did several tours alongside many other talented bands like Breed 77, Terrorvision, Skindred and most notably Stadium fillers Bullet For My Valentine. After conquering the UK, Europe and beyond, the band released their second album ‘Into The Volcano’ in 2009. The album came with different attributes from its predecessor and although it did have some exceptional songs, Alon was unhappy with the outcome and so decided to quit the mic and focus on his real passion- movies! The initial plan had always been to switch into movies once the band had reached multi-platinum status, but instead he chose to leave the industry and do some theatre training. Popularity and all those years in the limelight gave Alon the head start that he needed. In 2012 he took all those years of experience in the music industry and wrote a lengthy screenplay which was soon followed by a sitcom based on what his band faced along the road. Once fully immersed, Alon won big screen roles in About Time and Skyfall as well as on Britain’s small screen for Holby City and Banana. In September 2014 he finally shot the pilot for the TV series ‘Sex Drugs & Veggies Spring Rolls.’ He wrote, directed and produced the series and also starred as the lead actor. The series currently airs on U.S, Canadian and British channels and features some upcoming talents as well as notable actors like Ian Reddington from Highlander and Anthony IIott from the Wrong Turn franchise. Now with sights fully set on Hollywood, Alon has recently met with various agents, producers, casting agents and managers. With offers coming from different directions, it’s no doubt that Alon will soon be compared to the likes of Jack Black and fellow countryman Ricky Gervias. With so much potential at his disposal and countless opportunities, the world is his oyster. © 2014 starpower |
