In The Spotlight- Nazli K LouA Story by starpowerPersian Sensation, Nazli K LouAnyone who has seen the stunning Persian actress Nazli K Lou in action knows that she is going to be in the spotlight for a very long time. A beautiful young woman brimming with energy, talent and ambition, she is a highly focused and motivated individual. She has the charisma to melt stones into clay. She is a role model for every young girl to look up to.
She
is the star of two different hard-hitting, reality based films that carry
strong messages and are currently generating a lot of buzz. The first one is called “For the Birds,”a
story about the execution of a teenage girl.
The film seeks to raise awareness of this issue with viewers and to
ultimately end this horrendous practice. The movie successfully conveys this
deeper message while keeping audiences engaged in the story of Atafeh, the
young woman who is executed, expertly portrayed by Nazli. When I asked her what she learned from
playing the controversial lead role, Nazli says that “we should celebrate
everyday of our lives because we belong to a freer and more privileged society.”
In
the feature film “Parts of Disease” Nazli
plays a compelling role as an FBI informer whose husband
is suspected of supporting a terrorist organization. Stuck between her family and her allegiance
to the FBI and the U.S., her performance is often regarded as one of the
highlights of the film.“Parts of Disease” was screened at the Pan African Film
Festival in Los Angeles leaving audiences impressed with Nazli’s skills and
character portrayal.
‘For
the Birds’ has received many awards, including Best Short Film at the Cleveland
Film Festival and Spokane Film Festival, and Best Female Director of Short Films
at the Directors Guild of America. The film also picked up an award at the
World of Women Cinema in Sydney, Australia.
But
something that is very special about Nazli is her versatility. In addition to carrying off the heavy, series
roles mentioned above, Nazli is also a genius when it comes to comic timing. Most
recently, Nazli was selected to join a prestigious Improv Comedy group, winning
the position out of hundreds of hopeful actors,to be cast in an LA-based live
show that is billed as “the Persian version of Saturday Night Live (SNL)”. Nazli is
also working with Tara Atashgah, the director of “For the Birds”, on an upcoming
romcom that will also star Nazli as the lead. . Nazli's advice
for the young women who look up to her is “Be sure of your skills, hone them,
and succeed. Never give up!”
