Singer, Steinunn Osk, Making Iceland proud with her magical voice!

Can we imagine life without music? It would really be difficult to do so. So shouldn’t all the fantastic and talented people who give us this music be given credit for making this art so beautiful? The world of music has some great singers and one such gorgeous and talented singer is the Icelandic singer Steinunn Osk Axelsdottir who began singing at the age of nineteen. Though she was into theatre growing up and did shows around Reykjavik, the confidence to make music as her profession came after she moved to Los Angeles.

 

She went to Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music and got an Associate of Arts Degree in performance (vocals), has completed training in contemporary music from Tónlistarskóli Félags Íslenskra Hljómlistamanna (F.Í.H. Music School) �" Reykjavík, Iceland as well  as training in classical music from Söngskólinn í Reykjavík (The Reykjavik Academy of Vocal Arts) - Reykjavík, Iceland. She has some really amazing experience in this field and she sang and performed for various gigs around the cities with multiple musicians as a vocalist in Los Angeles, CA & Reykjavik, Iceland.  She is a Teacher’s Assistant at Musicians Institute; Los Angeles, CA and a lead vocalist “In The Key Of Earth”; Los Angeles.

 

This covers areas like recording lead vocals, live performances, collaborating on lyrics writing and melody and so on. Her current band members are Steinunn �"sk Axelsdóttir, herself as (lead vocals, lyricist (and vocal melodies)),Anel Orantes Pedrero (bass, background vocals), Jazzlyn Rose (keyboards, songwriter, and producer), Alec De Kervor (guitar) and Kirsche Day Messenger (background vocals).

 

She considers Metallica, Silverchair and Portishead as her biggest inspirations music-wise. She is also highly inspired by her parents and their continuous support. Her writing style is bluesy and she loves hard rock. Her album which she released with her band  as new age rock was inspired by Depeche mode, Devin Townsend, SigurRos and Portishead. It was also inspired by nature and some natural sound tracks were used in the making. Her Halloween gig where she dressed up as Lady Gaga is her personal favorite gig to date so far and singing to a packed crowd. In the future,  she aspires to work with Alice Cooper. She is a great communicator and her interests and skills include Sight Singing; Background Vocals; and Studio Recording along with lesson planning and music theory.
