The story of Filmmaker Agnieska Lal

An inspiration to all young Filmmakers out there, Agnieska Lal

One of the best examples of a person who loves to do whatever she thinks is her passion is the Polish film director, producer and world traveler Agnieszka Lal .  Born in Warsaw, she initiated her career as a child radio speaker for Radio BIS at the age of seven.As a teenager, she won the nationwide audition for the admired TV show Blazeja which was aired live five times in a week on Polish National Broadcaster Chanel 1.This made her the youngest host in its history when she co-hosted as well as worked as an associate producer on the show. Post this she appeared in television commercials and hosted the public television show Raj. She began working with Viacom MTV Networks as an associate producer in the year 2008.

In 2009 she moved to Sydney, Australia and in 2012 she graduated from the Sydney University as a Master of Management in distinction. She then went ahead with the production of her own documentary after refusing a lucrative job offer in management consulting. She was passionate about television ever since she was a child and considers herself lucky to have grown up around TV sets and studios as both her parents worked for Polish television. Adventurers and free spirits inspire her a lot along with the show Bear Grylls. Though she enjoys being on screen, working on a project from scratch is also something that excites her a lot.

Heading Liberty is her personal favorite project which is a documentary that is filmed by her with her husband. It is about an effort to sail across the pacific with basic navigation equipment and that too without any prior sailing experience. Currently she is busy editing her documentary. She admires the works of Michael Moore.She is deeply inspired by Oscar winning Malik Bendjelloul’s 'Searching for Sugar Man’ documentary.

As for the future she thinks travel and filming is something that she would love to do and advises staying humble and open-minded  through the story of Buddhist scholar and Zen to the aspiring filmmakers. She is a member of the international honor society Beta, Gamma, Sigma along with being a member of the Australian Parachute Federation and a Bachelor of English Literature.
