Claire Cohen is already being touted as one of the best finds in the television
industry.Although, her fascination started with music, a scene featuring Heath
Ledger changed her life altogether. She noticed that Heath was having so much
fun while acting and that experience of watching Heath act, prompted her to
join the bandwagon of acting. However, before going any further, let us have a
brief look at her childhood and the kind of prodigy she was at music:
Claire took up violin at the docile age of five and by
the time she was eight she had already become proficient in piano too. If one
considers both these disciplines difficult, then that person is in for a big
surprise. She did not stop there and learned to play french horn and flute by
the age of ten. The next time she picked up an instrument was at the age of
twelve and this time it was the pipe organ. However, the aforementioned
incident of Heath Ledger took place when she was just 14 and it changed her
life altogether.
She then enrolled herself at the renowned RADA for a summer’s
course. The time she spent at RADA, made her beliefs more concrete and she
decided to have a full go at acting.Therefore, she attended the
American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Then she was selected by the New York
Academy Theatre Company and trained there for a year. She started her
television stint by playing a role in “Dance Academy”. Since she was good at
dancing and singing, her work there was deeply appreciated. She has also been a
part of many theatres such as, Almost Maine, The Veil and The Prodigal.
Her work in the film “The Apartment” although was a supporting role, her
acting skills were highly praised. Claire’s future in the industry looks very bright
indeed!
