British actress, Kimberley Datnow

Social media is abuzz about actress Kimberley Datnow. Although English by birth, she is making her impact felt on both sides of the Atlantic having recently moved from New York to L.A. Originally from London, she well understands the need to be among those whose creative energies are infectious! From earliest memories, acting has been in her blood with first memories being of and unknown to her mother at the time, of using spare rooms in their home as a stage and using mum’s clothes as costumes for spontaneous productions staring who else; little Kimberley!

Having noticed certain clothing items missing, Kimberley’s mum, and desiring the return of each article of clothing, a compromise became necessary; for return of the items, mum would enroll Kimberley as a member of a local theatre youth group.

This first step in what has proven a lifelong obsession, further inflamed Kimberley’s desire to become an accomplished actress who one day would be known by all Britain. Pursuing this path eventually led her to being credited with appearances on ITV (the UK network Channel) and well-known York Theatre Royal’s stage which has long been known as an acting haunt of great actors from past generations.

Far be it from Kimberley to allow such noteworthy appearances to become a distraction to her ultimate goal - taking on projects which challenge and develop her talents as an actress. There are few genres of stage and film the energetic and gifted actress will shy away from. When recently asked what her favorite role was, a comedy came to mind which saw her take on the role of a woman named Syble in the production Private Lives (by Noel Coward).

For many reasons, this part has and will remain memorable beyond professional reasons. Unknown to her at the time, this would prove to be the final performance her late father would see that little girl, who transformed their London home into a theatrical performance, play. Describing her father as a man who regularly churned out ‘pearls of wisdom’, Kimberly speaks warmly of advice he’d given 18 years ago " “Be careful what you wish for. It might come true!”

Amazingly and being yet so early in her career, Ms. Datnow boasts more than 8 films with other projects in the works:

  • Colder Harbor " 2003

  • Going Home (Short) " 2007

  • Evil Things " 2009

  • The Neighbours (Short) " 2010

  • Dollface (Short) " 2012

  • The Russian Spy (TV Series) " 2012

  • Flat Mates (TV Mini-Series) 2012

With another upcoming release titled Mission Park: Dawn of New Boston in pre-production, her arrival in L.A. has presented limitless opportunities which it is believed will eventually land her on the big screen for an introduction to American audiences.

Although stage and film is her first love, Ms. Datnow believes that improvisation should extend well beyond performing in front of a camera and should morph into voice overs as well as audio readings.

As an actress herself with an established fan base, Kimberley also confesses with unabashed joy, to being a fan of other actors within the entertainment industry. In a recent interview she was asked who would be her ideal co-star. Without hesitation and almost gitty, she answered " “Jeff Goldblum!” When asked why, she offered " “He seems so generous in his performances and it is always great to act alongside someone like Jeff that you can really feed off and play with”.
